A conformation event, more commonly known as a dog show, is a competition where dogs are judged on how well they ‘conform’ to the breed standard. How ell a dog conforms to the breed standard of overall appearance and structure indicates their ability produce puppies that maintain and advance the standard.
While dogs are competing against the other dogs for points, they are judged individually on how they match the ideal breed standard. The dogs are exhibited to the judge by their handler who can be the owner, breeder or a professional handler. They will be both visually and physically judged on their confirmation to the breed standard and have their gait and temperament observed.
Dogs (Male) and Bitches (Female) are judged individually.
